Thanksgiving Surprise

Thanksgiving 2011 will be one we will remember forever. Jason had told us they would be driving from Texas to spend Thanksgiving with us. What we did not know was that Brandon and his family caravaned with them and surprised us with a visit for Thanksgiving. Everyone kept the secret. We were blown away and felt so much gratitude that they would make that effort to spent Thanksgiving with us. We had a wonderful time. We invaded my sister's house with 13 of our 15 grandchildren. We ate a huge meal, went to feed apples to the horses, broke a pinata, and took a ride in the hot rod. During the week we had a pizza night, a girls dress up time and trip for ice cream, a boys game day, and a lot of shopping.

Family is everything. We are still overwhelmed with their efforts to make this a memorable Thanksgiving for all of us. Enjoy a few pictures of the weeks activities.

Our trip to Texas

Our 14th grandchild was born in Texas on October 4, 2011 to Jason and Mindi. We were able to fly down to Texas the end of October because our newest granddaughter wanted to meet her Idaho Grandparents. We flew into Austin and were able to spend some time with Brandon and his family. Brandon is busy with his residency, but it was great to see their house and talk about their home improvement plans. We went with Jason and his family to support Jason in his first Marathon just north of San Antonio. He finished the whole 26.2 miles. We were proud of him and glad it was not us. That Sunday Jason blessed little Cora Lee Hope Holloway in the Whitney Branch of the LDS church. It was great to be a part of that. We flew back on Halloween.

Our Texas granddaughter is not the newest. Travis and Jenny had a baby girl on November 8, 2011 in Cleveland Ohio. We are planning a trip to Ohio in January to meet our newest granddaughter. To our knowledge there are no more on the way. We have 9 granddaughters and 6 grandsons. The oldest is 7 years. That is a lot of little people.

Memorial day visit

Memorial day cam and went. We decided to visit the grave of my brother in June. It had been years since we had been there. It was emotional to bring back a lot of memories, but it was a good experience. Here are a few pictures.

Here are a few random pictures of our summer activities. Jason and Mindi came to visit with their children. We had a great time with them. Chelsi and Cassie are in town with their kids which we love. There is nothing like family close by. We have 13 grandchildren. Jason ans Mindi will add one more girl to the mix the first week of October. Travis and Jenny will add another girl in November. That will give us 6 grandsons and 9 granddaughters. The oldest is 7 years old.

A new project

I spent a lot of time this summer building a new china cabinet for my dear wife. I finally finished it and was quite pleased with how it turned out. Here are a couple of pictures of the finished product. It is mad of Oak ans will replace the old one we had. The old one went to Cassie to help fill up their new house.

Our Ohio Trip

We went to Ohio to celebrate Brandon's Graduation from Podiatry school. We also were able to celebrate Jenna’s 7th birthday. She is our oldest grandchild. We also took time to visit the Rock N Roll hall of fame. We saw all kinds of stuff from rock n roll superstars. Brandon, Travis and their father also went to the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Canton, Ohio. They saw all kinds of football STUFF. We also had plenty of time with 5 of our grandchildren. It was a great trip.

Our son, the Doctor

Almost 30 years ago we welcomed our second son into the world. As with most parents, you wonder what the future holds for your children. What would grow up to do and be? On May 20, 2011 in Cleveland Ohio, we were able to witness part of this young man’s potential. Brandon was awarded his Doctorate Degree in Podiatric Medicine. After 4 long years of medical school, our son is a doctor. We give credit to him and his dedication, and also to his wife who supported and encouraged him through this process. It was trying, at times, and she carried the burden of raising a family by herself when he was away for tests or for externships. Despite the Hard work, THEY DID IT. Now with a doctorate degree and 4 children they are off to Temple Texas where Brandon will do a 3 year residency in podiatric medicine at Scott and White Hospital. Our son, Travis, is half way through his program in podiatric medicine. We expect another graduation from podiatry school in May of 2013.
